English Teacher
Tampa, FL
Alison Jussaume is an educator at the Academy of the Holy Names in Tampa, Florida.

Alison teaches ninth and eleventh grade English at the college-preparatory, honors, and Advanced Placement levels. Following her undergraduate study at the University of Vermont, she taught at Our Lady of Good Counsel High School in Olney, Maryland before returning to school to earn a master’s degree in occupational therapy at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She spent five years in private practice, working with older adults and children aged six months through seventeen years. Both occupational therapy and teaching require problem-solving, innovation, goal setting, and flexibility; Alison believes that her unique career path informs her passion for promoting deeper learning in the classroom. Currently, she is inspired by the work of Brené Brown, Jake Knapp, John Zeratsky, and her fellow DL 2019 attendees.
